Meet Duncan Belloc-Rosenblatt, a normal teenager, or at least as normal as you can get when you're a human-monster hybrid. His mother, a typical suberban soccer mom, wants him to get into a good college. His father, a 300-foot tall city-destorying dragon, wants him to take his place as the king of all monsters. Duncan, however, will be happy just to make it through high school without being expelled... again.
      Duncan and his Mom have migrated across the country to find a community that accepts their little family, and have recently landed in Progress, Utah, hoping to establish something close to a normal life. During the week Duncan adjusts to his 5th new school in three years and deals with the regular routine of gawkers and bullies while trying to make new friends. On the weekend, staying with his father in the depths of an abandoned nuclear testing site, he undergoes a barrage of mental and physical challenges designed to prepare him for a lifetime of battle and conquest.
      Then one day, one of Duncan's monstrous adversaries escapes the compund, heads back to Progress, and kidnapps Duncan's mother. Duncan's two lives have suddenly collided, and in order to save his human mother, he may have to turn to his other half and relase the beast within.
